Digital Gift Cards issued straight from the POS: variants, credit redemption and gifting between customers

The module Gift Card manages the full lifecycle of digital gift cards. Define a catalogue with amount variants (€25, €50, €100…), assign it to the enabled stores and let operators issue them straight from the POS in a few seconds.

When the customer uses the gift card in a sale, the operator runs the GIFT credit redemption from the POS, which checks the store and reduces the balance. Gift cards can be gifted between customers and connect to external fulfillment systems such as BestShopping.

Catalogue · POS issuance

The gift card catalogue defines variants with configurable amounts (€25, €50, €100, €200 or any value) with selling prices independent of the loaded amount. Each variant can have its own external ID for integration with fulfillment systems.

The POS operator selects the variant, confirms, and the gift card is issued instantly with a masked code for security. The movement MOV_GIFT_CARD_PURCHASE is recorded automatically. You can enable the module for each program with a business-rule flag.

GIFT credit redemption at the POS: the balance updates in real time, and the customer uses the gift card as a partial payment

During a sale, the POS operator can accept a gift card as a payment method. They enter or scan the code, and the system checks that the store is enabled for redemption and that the balance is enough, including a partial amount.

The remaining balance updates instantly after every transaction, and the customer can always see it in Area Cliente. Redemption movements (MOV_GIFT_CARD_UNLOAD) are tracked in the customer history with date, store and amount.

Gifting between customers, and BestShopping integration for automatic gift card fulfillment

A purchased gift card can be gifted to another customer in the program: the system transfers ownership and automatically notifies the recipient with the "Gift Card gift" template.

For programs that integrate with the MDW BestShopping, the connector syncs orders and fulfillment statuses with the external system — so the digital gift card can be paired with services and products from the BestShopping catalogue, with no manual work.
